Kim Gary @ Avenue K

Posted by Buu on October 5, 2006

My brother and I met up for dinner the other day at Avenue K opposite KLCC. The place we went to is called Kim Gary, a Hong Kong based franchise which is well known for its famous Cheese Baked Rice. That didn’t sound to good to my taste. Come on, cheese and rice?? No thanks.

The interior of the place looks shiny and glossy like what you tend to see in Hong Kong movies where the gangster lords will dine in.

I ordered the pork cutlet, one of their set meals while my brother ordered the pork ramen. The ramen looked like maggi mee to me but it had a not bad taste but it was not a memorable experience. My dish on the other was surprisingly deceiving because instead of getting a cutlet, I had pork chops.

I think the pink swirly stuff in the ramen was crab meat. My pork “cutlet” had a choice of 4 sauces to choose from which are; sweet corn, italian, garlic and black pepper. I choose the garlic sauce and it tasted pretty good. The side dishes were common. The pork itself was nice.

These were the side orders that came along with the set meal.

A piece of garlic toast, a cup of chinese tea, oxtail soup and jelly which I found to be too sweet. I liked their garlic toast. It tasted to me like borderline french toast and it was a generous size of a slice :) . The bill came up to RM 36.11 which is not bad. Maybe I’ll try something else here next time.
