Ceasar’s Palace,Liverpool

Posted by Bee on August 25, 2006

Went to Ceasar’s palace for my birthday dinner months ago, the restaurant was highly recommeded by my housemate, CS. Very classy, stunning food and *emphasize* AFFORDABLE price. Well, its hard to find a classy place to dine out in Liverpool which offer student range price actually. Of course one can get mumbo jumbo size of fish and chips or burgers in any fish & chips take away shop or local pub in a fairly cheap price (3-5 pounds), but for the one with decent atmosphere (a.k.a dim light plus nice-suit-waiters) and champagne-served restaurant, it will cost you a fortune.

Surprisingly, Ceasar’s Palace is a luxurous decorated restaurant with 7-8 pounds meals. It will be more comfortable if its more spacious, but it was acceptable as they have to give priorities to the fountain and greek-style sculptures IN the restaurant.

Lets talk about the food then, the main meal sets are presentable and come with the choice of either jacket potatoes or chips and salad or coleslaw.

This is CS traditional Roast chicken, Brits like to have Roast dinner on weekends especially on Sunday. its alright, tasted like oven chicken, a bit too plain, a bit of sauce will taste nicer.

This is Jia’s Kiev chicken, breast chicken coated with garlic butter and breadcrumb. again, its quite dried but they are certainly generous with the side dish portion.

This is Chloe’s Polio Alla Parmigiana, sounds sophisticated but its actually chicken breast with flour breaded, top with Mozzarella cheeseand spicy tomato saurce. Anyway, it tasted like pizza. Compliments to baked potato!it was really soft and rich in flavour, yummy….

And last but not least, my BBQ pork ribssssssssss….. Gosh its excellent! the pork rib which melted in the BBQ sauce tasted heavenly in my mouth. The portion was so massively bulky that i can even shared with the gals, remind you, this is quite a rare thing for a carnivores like me to do.

Anyway, we did enjoyed ourselves very very much. Afterwards, we head off for a cuppa at Witherspoon just to chill out. i have a big cup of hot chocolate *satisfactory sigh*, what a good way to end a feisty night like this.

NEW project

Posted by Bee on August 24, 2006

Yes, i am having a new project, but thank God, for the first time, the project is not the usual laboratory academic style project that i am having all these while. it might be educative, informative and hmmm…. it does have some entertainment value as well.

*drumroll*

i am having a food review blog with my bf!

*wuahahaha*
ahem, sorry for the not so gracious laugh, but finally, our first baby blog was born. Have been planning for a while now, but never put into real action. Both of us have the same crave and appetite for food. In fact, our usual date always end up with bloated stoamch. My bf used to be a cute chubby fat boy during his puberty days, However, he had put a lot of effort and thousand hours of jogging to get to his current shape, i do worried that i might cause all his effort going down the drain, BUT amazingly, he still able to stay fit with our constant ‘grandeur’ dining out, thanks to thousands hours more of jogging.

Thank God that I have the advantage of not easily get fat. Eat thousands calories of pork fat and yet it didnt turns into lipid. thats why i must have this food blog project, so that i can eat more and blog more to ensure that this heavenly gift does not wasted.

*Gosh, i do look like a profesional food taster right?*

Anyway, i will be writing review on English food for a while, and some of my ‘experiments’ as well. Alimento para todos!!

Dave’s @ 1 Utama , Kuala Lumpur

Posted by Buu on August 24, 2006

Last sunday, my family and I went out for dinner at 1 Utama. My brother (John) was aiming for a sushi buffet place called Shogun (thanks erizabesu for the info) while the rest of us didnt have any preference in mind. Once we reached there , the place was jammed pack. I dont recall the name of the restaurant though. We were listed as dining party no. 9 on the waiting list. John kind of forgot that my mother does not like japanese food so after a short discussion and brainstorming on what else to eat, Jenny (sister in law) suggested we eat at a pricey restaurant on the lower floor.

Classy place! After a few minutes of talking , the food came. I ordered Linguini cooked with ham, mushrooms and crushed tomatoes. Very nice and filling

John ordered the special of the day; Pork knuckle with garlic potatoes , steamed veg and butter cream mash potatoes!

Jenny had a pork chop. Its not the usual thing that you see in western grills. No batter , no crunchy stuff. Its pure meat!

pork belly

Finally, my mom had Pork Belly.

My family’s dishes were served in i dont know what brown sauce and i’m sure it wasnt bbq sauce. We shared our dishes with each other and honestly, it was too much. Each serving was enough for 2 people but who cares if you’re not going to eat like this everyday. Eat!!!!

Here is what I looked like before and after the meal.

Before- Still happy but hungry

John and I Me before eating

After – Bloated and satisfied

Each dish ranges from RM 30-50. Its ok given that the portions are huge and the food tastes delicious. I give it a 2 thumbs and 2 Toes up. :D

Impromptu Primer

Posted by Buu on August 22, 2006

Hey readers! Welcome to this blog on food. My girlfriend and I decided to do this blog as a project we could do together as a couple to tell the world about our culinary adventures which will span into any kind of cuisine we can find. You can expect photos and reviews of the places we will be eating. To be upfront, the both of us are not very good photographers but with practice from all the food photo snapping, we’ll get better.

We’ll be writing soon….
